Lovers As Friends

It’s a natural thing that lovers sing
of each other at first with desire.
But let lovers be friends and the song never ends;
It continues to light passion’s fires.

Lovers that meet in a moment but fleet
Leave empty but for satisfaction.
Its lovers that trust that go well beyond lust
And always share an attraction.

A lover and friend gives support to you when
Your moments are difficult and tough.
The burden they share, it’s you for they care
Your welfare is reason enough.

The shallow escape that some lovers take
Leaves empty the feelings of heart.
And later or soon they abandon the swoon
Left lonely again as they part.

A friend as a love is as hand is to glove,
Together they make love complete.
You’ll never know, greater love as is so
When love and true friendship do meet.
