Guardian of the Heart – Part 1
.
She sat beneath a peridot moon, entranced in evening's tranquil swoon,
A shiver crept upon her, chilling deeper as it went.
The forest near gave haunting calls, she gathered tighter comfort's shawl,
And thought of lonely hours she had worn and painfully spent.
She wished a better life than one she now had to lament.
A dashing lad once from her swayed, her innocence of tender age,
She kept his memory polished well and deep within her heart;
A guardian who came to tame, the heartbreaks that came time again,
A mystic cohort made of starlight, one who’d been there from the start,
And never would he ever leave her, never would they ever part.
Crystal sparkled long her cheeks, granting solace as to speak,
Of burning sorrow tearing loose her deeper parts within,
Silver rivers thence forth burst, from withered soul which woefully nursed,
The last of strength she breathless summoned, summoned as a prayer for him.
His arms held tightly round her now, she let the night fade slowly dim.
'If only he were really here', she thought, as sleep crept softly in.
