First Fleeting Visage

.
I spied him in light’s early day --
A day which stole my heart away;
The air stood crisp with morning dew,
Blessed, chance day of which there’re few.

Strong he stood with hair of gold,
Which framed his eyes of blue and bold,
His manner spoke a story made,
By courageous heart and lovers ways.

It seemed I stood a thousand years,
Froze in gaze by wondrous fear,
That he might just glance my way,
And take my heart with him to stay.

Thunder broke my helpless trance,
As his steed began to prance,
Into the sun from whence they came,
A gilded god without a name.

Lost I stood as moments passed …
Wishing for this time to last …
Then remembering duty’s call,
I headed for the castle’s walls.

The Song of True Romance

.
Awakened we are to a rose hewed dawn, with
Feelings deep – deeper than ocean currents carry.
Our hearts sing a tale, merrily sung along,
Hearkening our souls to listen – and to tarry.

Such passion -- greater than fevered ocean’s storm,
What will become of thy precious lovers creed;
Shall practical matters take thee into reign,
Leaving you breathless, without a moments heed?

Our fingers always touch -- softly laughing -- delighting to be near,
Speaking words of lovers’ dreams as nuzzling birds at roost;
Bodied souls flow in accord, enamored unity replete,
Whence does sensibility find words? It cannot be set loose.

Alas the world demands its dues, survival bears such cost,
But know my love beneath it all lives sweetest consonance,
As we share scant precious days we’re granted on this earth,
Our hearts will sing a lovers song -- the song of true romance.
