Midnight's Seductress
Midnight seductress,
Wresting me from first sleep's hollow,
Into night's perpetual motion,
Are you wonder's usher or peril's purveyor?
Shall love's ecstasy pervade,
Knowing one's true-heart dearest;
A long brief moment of sweet sultry allure,
Flamed by passions kept deep?
Or harrowing passage;
Strife filled and chambers wrought with fear;
Some perverse charade,
Left dangling from unscalable precipice?
Will comfort come in waking;
Ending quandaries irreconcilable with answers known,
Or tarry further shall I wish;
In hopes of catching luminous buttered flight?
One entreated trust I implore,
Before this journey's dawn;
If fated winds return me not,
Bring gentle winds to those tethered still.
