You Were Beautiful Once
You were beautiful once;
Eyes so sweet and innocent,
Skin silky satin smooth,
Figure light and fair.
You were beautiful once;
Blushing glow about you,
Intense with passion's pleasure,
And eyes so full of love.
You were beautiful once;
As sorrow and laughter,
Began to crease your darling eyes,
And each precious curve became more so.
You were beautiful once;
As stunning silver,
Framed your beautiful smile,
Rendering my heart hopelessly in love again.
You were beautiful once;
As my tears fell gently upon your peaceful cherub's face,
And I kissed your soft, tender lips,
One last, long goodbye.
