Rabbits Come And Go But Dogs Abide

I’ve seen the rabbits come and go,
The world changed not with my pursuit.
To you my lad who wants to know,
Those efforts bore no righteous fruit.

On every flower and bush I peed,
Carefully marked what I call mine.
Yet not another took much heed,
Their odor fresh was all the time.

I’ve had some chance to freely roam,
Wanderlust within my heart,
But soon I longed for sheltered home,
And journeys sadly I did part.

Occasionally I wonder still,
How different my life may have been.
The memories spark a silent thrill,
As this old heart remembers when.

To you, young pup, with eyes so clear,
Your question’s answer has words few,
Live each moment without fear,
And to your heart always be true.

The Modern Ministry of Truth

It seems
Such a cacophonous dream;
The copious rattle of prattle
Obfuscating, obliterating
Sensibility's seams.
A never ending battle
Forever fought.

Not a coherent thought,
Nor manner of response critically weighed,
Appears saliently sought,
Or forth brought;
No logic to dissuade.
Platitudinal porridge.

Flatulent fodder for storage
Repeatedly excreted,
Imbibed by comatose minds unwilling to forage.
Spontaneity retreated,
Personality deleted,
Mankind forever
Unconscionably cheated.

The Grayest Greyness

Where brightly colored worlds once lived, vivaciously alive,
The grayest greyness gravely haunts, deeply trenched inside.
The care of our forgotten folks, left to no tomorrow;
Invasive hopeless shadows fill stark isolation’s sorrow.

Once fanciful Forget-Me-Nots weep silent anguished tears,
As our elders stare at walls alone in languished years.
Spirits shattered, gone what mattered, desperate to be heard,
Independence long past lost speaks louder that all words.

Where are all the family ties once loving, sure and strong;
A place one knew in golden years that they would still belong.
The rocking chair where parents sat, in a yard sale sold,
To help pay for a prison called a home made for the old.

Sinfully selfish we’ve become and with this we are lost,
For ease of life we fate our roots to warehouse at low cost.
Let’s justify our actions well, believe they’re in good hands,
Forget about them for awhile, and never make amends.

As you stare from your wheel chair, no family comes to call,
Numb from months of yearning for their voices in the hall,
Wishing God to take you from your desolate misery,
Think back onto these words and see if surely you agree.

Forever Endeavor

When your spirit does slump,
Home’s built on a dump,
I’ll hug a green tree for you.

When water’s more than gas,
And has a brown cast,
I’ll keep recycling just for you.

Forever, endeavor, to keep our environment clean,
And never, not ever, pretend harm is not seen,
Together we’ll bring back to life what was once serene,
But we must do it right now.

Walk rightly when you can,
Or take the bus man,
It’s better for us if you do.

Bicycles are perks,
When parking at work,
Employers should be helping too.

Beware of meals ate,
And what’s on your plate,
What farming poisons taint your food.

Demand what should be,
We know it’s not free.
Don’t ever think you’re being rude.

Forever, endeavor, to keep our environment clean,
And never, not ever, pretend harm is not seen,
Together we’ll bring back to life what was once serene,
But we must do it right now.

Bladed Bumblebee

Bladed bumblebee
Buzzing blatantly about the base
Of an elder living tree.

What has quickened your haste,
Gnawing, chipping, stinging as you go,
In laying grandeur to such waste.

Must you take life so,
No lament lain by your toothed silver tongue,
Digging deeper row by row.

No interment song sung,
As your victim lies soiled, spoiled,
Gnarled with age, yet still young.

Device of man, gasoline fed and well oiled,
You are destroying what earth has long toiled.
