Bladed Bumblebee
Bladed bumblebee
Buzzing blatantly about the base
Of an elder living tree.
What has quickened your haste,
Gnawing, chipping, stinging as you go,
In laying grandeur to such waste.
Must you take life so,
No lament lain by your toothed silver tongue,
Digging deeper row by row.
No interment song sung,
As your victim lies soiled, spoiled,
Gnarled with age, yet still young.
Device of man, gasoline fed and well oiled,
You are destroying what earth has long toiled.
